Herbal Therapy (Page 2)
 What will I see?
You are unlikely to see bags of bark or bundles of twigs. Most herbal remedies used by Americans come premade in tablet, capsule, or liquid forms. Dr. Van Cise tends to depend primarily on what are known as Western herbs. These do not have their roots in Asian cultures. Most of them are derived from South American, Native American, or European sources. They are almost exclusively liquids, capsules, or tablets.

For most infectious diseases you are unlikely to see just herbal remedies for your pet. Dr. V. does not want to ignore the benefits that certain modern medications offer just because they are more high tech than plucking flowers from your back yard.

 What will my pet feel?
Primarily your pet will feel relief from the condition that plagues him. If the particular preparation you use has an alcohol base, your pet will have a localized warm feeling when he first tastes the remedy.

Why would I want this for my pet?
As with most complementary therapies, herbal remedies offer an alternative to standard medicine or surgery. If allopathic medications seem to be having little effect on your pet's condition, he/she is a likely candidate for herbs.

Maybe the regular medicine you used only worked for a short time before the same condition returned. This indicates that the outward signs of the disease responded to therapy but the patient was not "cured" of the imbalance state. Rather than repeat the same drugs over and over, usually with less and less benefits, you might consider herbs to remove the underlying cause of the disease condition.
